FESTIVAL OF FAME – Expressions of heritage,
is on from February 25 to March 2nd the National School of the Arts, Constitution Hill and Joburg Theatre in Braamfontein, Johannesburg. Featured productions include Songs of Migration with Hugh Masekela, Gloria Bosman and NSA students. Choreography pieces to be staged include Dance Spectrum, Minkus Variations, Pictures of Africa, The Four Seasons. The “Host a Legend” series, with David Koloane, Kagiso Pat Mautloa, Patrick Rorke, Charles Levin and Janene Fourie features exhibitions, discussions and installations. Other activities include drumming and dance workshops, fashion show and
 a special Hugh Masekela tribute by a Jazz Ensemble. A day ticket costs R80 and affords access to all productions seating permitting. Booking Information:

MERCURY Live’s Innaugural Comedy Showdown is on February 27 from 8.30pm at Mercury,  43 De Villiers Road Zonnebloem, 7925 Cape Town, Western Cape. Crescendo Louw, Nathi Maki and Devon Lang are competing in the third round. Hosting the show is Gareth Woods and special guests Olly Booth and Dylan Skews. A ticket is R30  and students par R20.

CARNIVAL COMEDY SESSIONS feature Trevor Gumbi and friends every Wednesday until March 13from 7pm at Carnival City Showbar in Brakpan, Ekurhuleni. Tickets are R80 at the door.

BODHI ART DESIGN STUDIO PRESENTS ‘STYLE LIBRARY’ on March 2nd from 6pm at its studios 78 End Street corner Moseley Street, Doornfontein, Joburg. It’s a conceptual fashion exhibition and sample sale featuring the styling of The End Street Project, concept art by Anthony V. Sithole , music by DJ Medicine, a photographic story and positive vibrations by You.

DAVID KAU present his one-man show titled Here To Make You Laugh at The Artscape Theatre in Cape Town on 7 and 8 March.  Tickets are R120 and R150, available from Computicket.

EUGENE KHOZA presents his latest show Even Me, at Gold Reef City Casino’s lyric Theatre in Joburg from March 14th to 16th. Khoza promises new material and to air his views on politics, corruption, relationships and entertainment. Tickets are priced between R120 and R150 and are available through ComputickeT or at The Lyric Box Office on 011 248 5000.

THE CAPE TOWN CARNIVAL is on March 16 with festivities starting at 5pm and the parade getting under way at 7pm along the Fanwalk in Greenpoint. Floats will depict various African legends and stories, accompanied by colourfully costumed dancers, with the aim of creating an interactive spectacle.

THE HANSA FESTIVAL OF LEGENDS is on March 23rd from 2pm at Mary Fitzgerald Square, Newtown. Among the artists performing are Thembi Seete, Khuli Chana, Zakes Bantwini, Amu, Spikiri, Sipho Hotstix Mabuse, The Muffinz, Zaki Ibrahim, Lilly Million, TKZee, Lulo Café, The Soil, DJ Vigi, Glen Lewis, Oskido, DJ Dimplez. Tickets to the Festival cost R150 and can be bought at www.computicket.co.za.

CLASSIC DENIM, FOOD & WINE EXPO is on from noon on March 30 at Moriting Park in Tembisa, Ekurhuleni. Live Performance by Jazz  Meloz and entertainment by DJs Shimza, Hlathi Baby, Dor Santos, Sleazy P, Mandla Da DJ, Noxious Sole, Cry-GP, Mixxy, King Edward, Big Stan, Bhaze, King Sifiso, Jimmy Houz, Fistoz, Khathu and Trey, Era, Refreshing and Psyc0. Entrance is free until 6pm and is R50 there after. V.I.P: tickets are pre sold at R150 and include a three-course buffet and a choice of assorted wines. THE ABSA KKNK festival take place in Oudtshoorn north West from 29 March to 6 April. It features 52 productions including twenty theatre pieces, twenty-four music productions, five word art programmes, two kids theatre pieces and one dance theatre piece. Poets such as Danie Marais, Toast Coetzer and Ronelda Kamfer will read some of their poetry in Hardop.  Tickets are available from Computicket or visit www.absakknk.co.za for the full festival program. JAMMIN’N TING music and arts festival is on from March 29 to April 1 at Naledi Village, Ficksburg, Free State. Activities include the screening of short films and documentaries from indie/student film-makers from around the world, drumming, workshops, site seeing and stalls. Performing is Planet Lindela, Gussie P, Deejay Keamz, DJ Kongisto, Social Commentary forum, DJ Tonebone, RaggaVybz soundsystem, True Jones &Lwazi prolific Stereodtox, DJ Medicine, Dynamic shapeshifters, Egotistic Puseletso, DJ Sistamadic, Jazyritual, King Tafari love soundsystem, DJ Mistykal, Ebony, Bugz Bayfield, Hac one, Patric Mac-P, Afrogroove, DJ Gigs. BARRY HILTON’S B.E.E. – Best of Everything Ever show is at the Baxter Theatre in Cape Town on 26 and 27 April 2013. It’s a showcases of some of Hilton’s current work as well as audience favourites that span a phenomenal 30 years on stage as a successful, professional comedian. Tickets are R120 at Computicket. The show runs 1 hour 20 minutes without an interval.
